With 28 employees, Paul Hobaica attributes his company’s continued success to personal-touch marketing—primarily in the area of fostering excitement and ownership among his staff.

“I feel that marketing to our employees and building the excitement of the team is a low-cost and motivational approach to building our business,” he says. “By building their energy level as a team, we energize them to share Hobaica enthusiastically with the customers they encounter, as well as with their friends and family.”

Hobaica proactively adjusted its business plan to stay in the black during the economic challenges, always keeping an eye on fostering loyal customers. The company has grown to $5 million in annual sales by pursuing “customer advocates,” a strategy Hobaica will share with Sales & Marketing Forum attendees.

“The personal touch from employees to the customer is essential in winning customer advocates for your company,” he says.

Like other panelists, Hobaica also touts the benefits of maintaining a positive working environment during challenging times, and he will share some of his tips for helping promote positive mental attitudes among employees. “Don’t allow the struggles of the economy to pull you down to a level that is negative,” he notes.
